Lead Software Engineer – Hybrid | Right-to-Hire | Major Financial Client

Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid)

Pay: Up to $75 per hour on W2 - No C2C please.

We’re seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Retirement Strategies Technology team at a leading financial institution. In this role, you’ll collaborate with product owners, designers, engineers, and delivery teams to deliver high-quality platforms and customer-facing solutions. You will code, test, and debug both new and existing applications—driving technical innovation and solving complex business challenges.

• Build modern applications using industry best practices, design patterns, and architectural principles.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to internal standards.
• Partner with product owners to define features and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Write unit, integration, and functional automation tests; troubleshoot and resolve issues identified in QA or production environments.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, share insights with the team, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
• Tackle complex technical problems involving data evaluation and analysis of abstract business scenarios.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor team members.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Business acumen with an understanding of technology's impact on company goals.
• Self-driven learning mindset and adaptability.

• Monitoring and logging across SDLC

• Strong experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Architectural design and critical thinking
• Background in the financial or insurance industry is required
• Leadership experience is a plus
• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools (Claude Code, Git Hub Copilot, etc.) is a major advantage
