A fast-growing deep-tech hardware company is seeking an Embedded Software / Firmware Engineer to support the development of next-generation connected sensing technology. This role works closely with electrical, firmware, and product teams to develop reliable low-power embedded systems within highly constrained hardware environments.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, comfortable working closely with hardware teams, and excited by fast-paced startup environments where engineers take ownership across development, validation, and production support.
What You Will Do- Develop embedded firmware for low-power connected devices
- Work closely with Electrical Engineers on hardware/firmware integration and board bring-up
- Support validation & verification activities across prototypes and production hardware
- Design and maintain automated test frameworks, test jigs, and validation tooling
- Debug hardware/software interactions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and lab equipment
- Support manufacturing and production testing efforts
- Contribute to firmware architecture, system reliability, and scalability
- Participate in schematic review and cross-functional debugging efforts
- Collaborate closely with firmware, hardware, and product teams in a highly iterative development environment
- 3+ years of experience in Embedded Software or Firmware Engineering
- Strong programming experience in Embedded C/C++
- Experience working with low-power embedded or IoT devices
- Experience with board bring-up, hardware debugging, and embedded system validation
- Familiarity reading electrical schematics and debugging alongside hardware teams
- Experience building automated test systems, validation frameworks, or hardware-in-the-loop environments
- Comfortable working in lab-based development environments with hands-on hardware interaction
- Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, BLE, or USB
- Familiarity with RTOS or bare-metal firmware development
- Medical device, wearable, robotics, IoT, or consumer electronics experience
- Experience with manufacturing test or production validation
- Experience with battery-powered devices and low-power optimization
- Familiarity with Python for automation/testing
