Software Engineer, Java Developer, Full Stack Developer

Job Summary

Software Engineer – Group Insurance (GI). Partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, engineers, and delivery professionals to develop, test, and debug applications that solve complex business problems and deliver innovative products and services for Prudential’s customers.

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality, well‑documented code using modern design patterns and architectural principles.
• Collaborate with product owners to understand needs, define feature stories, and create technical design.
• Write unit, integration, and functional automation tests; investigate and resolve issues discovered by QA or product support.
• Proactively research and apply emerging technologies to improve solutions and coach teammates.
• Work with Java, Python, JavaScript, React, Spring Boot, Node.js, and related frameworks.
• Deploy code in a hybrid environment requiring onsite work at Newark, NJ at least three days per week.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with agile development and Test‑Driven Development (TDD).
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Hands‑on experience with one or more of Python, Java, JavaScript, Spring Boot, React, Node.js, and enterprise APIs (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
• Knowledge of secure coding practices, authentication, authorization, and Dev Sec Ops  concepts.
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS core services (e.g., Cloud Watch, S3, Lambda).

• Amazon Web Services development architecture patterns.
• Design Thinking and familiarity with insurance/financial services domain.
• Experience with AI developer tools (e.g., Claude, Code).

• Salary range $82,000 – $135,300, with potential yearly bonus.
