Position: Application Developer (Intelligent Resources Transportation Center)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to end-users while contributing to the development, design, and deployment of desktop and web-based software solutions.
  • Develop, design, and deploy desktop and web-based software solutions using Java (Spring, Spring Boot), Python (pandas, geopandas), JavaScript (Vue, React), Kotlin, Dart/Flutter, and other relevant technologies to meet user requirements, troubleshoot issues, and improve system functionalities.
  • Customize and design reports with SAP Crystal Reports and Jasper Reports for client agencies such as MPOs and State Departments of Transportation, meeting federally mandated obligations.
  • Develop and deploy web-based charting applications with Google Charts and High Charts to visualize trends and patterns in historical transportation data.
  • Apply patches/upgrades to packaged software, ensuring security compliance and system integrity using NSIS (Nullsoft Installation System), and test the end product with Virtual Box for cross-platform compatibility.
  • Document procedures using Git readme files and shared documentation to clarify software functions, functional requirements, and intended purposes.
  • Develop, test, and implement distributed big-data management and analysis systems including Hadoop, Spark, and Cassandra.
  • Develop and implement mapping systems using ArcGIS, Map Box, and Google Maps to visualize data in real-time and historical analysis systems.
  • Design and implement interfaces with application databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle for efficient and reliable data storage and retrieval.
  • Manage and maintain web application servers including Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Node.js, and Python Flask.
  • Integrate low-latency video monitoring systems (H264, H265, MJPEG) with Video Management Systems to support the ONVIF protocol suite.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Git version control (Git Hub, Git Lab), including branching, merging, tagging, and rebasing.
  • Design and execute test procedures and scripts with JUnit and Jenkins for automated software testing, and implement deployment scripts to streamline the software delivery process.
  • Conduct user training via web conferences or onsite and present the application at transportation seminars and conferences.
  • Distribute tasks among department research assistants and part-time students.
  • Design, develop, and deploy desktop and web-based software solutions using Java and PHP.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a Software Developer or in a similar role performing the above duties.
Compensation

Salary $104,291/year.
