2nd Shift Dock Supervisor – Sal Son Logistics – Newark, NJ

Lead Operations. Drive Performance. Deliver Results. Sal Son Logistics is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Dock Supervisor to lead our evening warehouse and dock operations in Newark, NJ. This position is responsible for supervising dock personnel, coordinating freight movement, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring on-time service for our customers.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced LTL and transportation environment and can effectively manage people, productivity, and operational performance.

The 2nd Shift Dock Supervisor oversees all evening dock activities, including freight handling, trailer loading and unloading, staffing, productivity, safety compliance, and communication with operations and transportation teams. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring freight moves efficiently while maintaining service and safety standards.

• Supervise and direct dock associates during operations.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound freight movement.
• Ensure trailers are loaded and unloaded safely and efficiently.
• Monitor productivity and labor utilization to meet operational goals.
• Conduct pre‑shift meetings and communicate daily priorities.
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance standards.
• Investigate and document freight shortages, damages, and operational issues.
• Work closely with dispatch, customer service, and transportation teams to ensure service commitments are met.
• Coach, mentor, and develop dock personnel.
• Manage attendance, scheduling, and employee performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist with staffing needs, training, and operational planning.

• Previous supervisory experience in transportation, logistics, warehouse, or LTL operations required.
• Strong leadership and team‑building skills.
• Experience managing dock operations, freight movement, and warehouse personnel.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency with warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Forklift certification or experience preferred.
• Knowledge of freight handling, trailer loading practices, and safety regulations.
