Position Summary: The Delivery Driver Trainer CDL A is responsible for training and developing new and existing delivery drivers with a valid CDL B or CDL A license. This role ensures that drivers adhere to safety protocols, delivery standards, and company policies. The Delivery Driver Trainer CDL A plays a crucial role in maintaining a high level of professionalism and efficiency in the delivery operations.

What you’ll do:

Conduct comprehensive training programs for new and existing delivery drivers, including orientation, on-the-road training, and safety procedures.

Teach and reinforce safe driving practices, proper vehicle maintenance, and accurate record-keeping.

Evaluate drivers' performance, provide constructive feedback, and develop improvement plans to enhance their skills and efficiency.

Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

Collaborate with the operations team to optimize delivery routes, improve productivity, and enhance customer service.

Assist in resolving delivery-related issues, such as delays, product discrepancies, and customer concerns.

About you:

Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.

Previous experience as a professional delivery driver, preferably in the food distribution or logistics industry.

Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safe driving practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and mentor drivers.

Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Organizational skills to manage training schedules, records, and documentation.

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.

Physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy items as required.

Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems and mobile devices for communication and record-keeping.

DOT Language Requirements

Who must meet it:

  • Drivers operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) who must be “qualified” under DOT/FMCSA driver-qualification rules (including CDL-required CMV drivers).

Standard:

  • Under 49 C.F.R. § 391.11(b)(2), a driver must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to:
    • Converse with the general public;
    • Understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language;
    • Respond to official inquiries; and
    • Make entries on reports and records.
