- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, law, or a closely related field, or a bachelor's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline.
- Certification in the appropriate area from OPOTA.
- In some cases, the College will consider associate degrees coupled with related work experiences, professional licensure, certifications, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements relevant to the subject matter to be taught.
- In-depth knowledge of the subject area to be taught.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication in the language in which assigned courses will be taught.
- Ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff.
- Belief in and concern for community service.
- High ethical and moral character.
- Proficiency with email.
- Willingness to teach in a variety of instructional delivery modes including the use of instructional technologies and online learning management systems.
- Commitment to diversity.
- Commitment to meeting students' learning needs and empowering students in their learning endeavors.
- Personal and educational philosophy compatible with the goals, objectives, and mission of Central Ohio Technical College.
- Master's degree in the subject area or a related degree, or a master's degree in education.
- Previous teaching experience and experience with curriculum development and assessment.
The part-time faculty member is responsible for providing professional, quality work as a teaching faculty member. Work includes facilitating student learning by conducting and teaching technical education courses at the undergraduate level, using active learning methods and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course; assessing student learning; and providing academic assistance to students as needed.
