MD Intervention Specialist Moderate-Intensive at Newark High School
Qualifications / Requirements- Hold a valid Ohio Education of the Handicapped certificate/license (candidates with multiple special education validations preferred or Intervention Specialist – Moderate to Intensive)
- Be aware of the social and emotional needs of each individual student
- Demonstrate the ability to identify individual student needs
- Cultivate and implement integrated and functional activities to teach the content standards
- Effectively differentiate instruction
- Plan and implement a variety of behavior management strategies
- Use student data to determine individual needs, develop targeted learning plans, and monitor ongoing progress
- Serve students with a variety of handicapping conditions as well as some at-risk students within an intervention or inclusion setting
- Exhibit strong communication and organizational skills
- Be objective and flexible
- Participate in department, building and district professional development opportunities related to the education of students with disabilities
- Supervise classroom aides and guide their work with students
- Collaborate with parents, special and regular education staff, students, related service personnel, and community agencies in the delivery of services to students with disabilities
- Be acceptable to the Building Principal, Director of Student Services, and Assistant Superintendent of Certificated/Licensed Personnel
