Qualifications and Requirements- Possess a valid School Psychology License. Prefer a candidate with a Master’s Degree or Alternate Pathways with Nationally Certified School Psychologist Credentiality.
- Be aware of the social and emotional needs of each individual student.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate an understanding of child development.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of effective interventions for students with pervasive developmental disorders.
- Demonstrate the ability to work, collaborate, and communicate with parents, students, and staff in a school setting.
- Demonstrate the ability to assess student needs and determine appropriate recommendations.
- Be familiar with developmental patterns of children and youth.
- Be willing to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Document recent professional growth activities.
- Possess knowledge and understanding of various individual ability, achievement tests, behavior assessments, and working memory assessments.
- Be resourceful in working with staff and parents to plan appropriate intervention.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Ohio Model Policies and Procedures for the Education of Children with Disabilities.
- Be acceptable to the Director of Student Services and Assistant Superintendent of Certificated/Licensed Personnel.
- Hold a School Psychologist Licensure.
- Have appropriate rapport with children.
- Demonstrate ability to manage time.
- Demonstrate knowledge of assessment and evaluation instruments and process.
- Have the ability to function in a team.
- Provide the intensive psycho‑educational evaluation of individual children identified as or thought to be disabled.
- Contribute to the written report of the multi‑factors evaluation team, delineating the results of the psycho‑education evaluation for consideration in the development of the IEP for each disabled child.
- Contribute to a multi‑factors evaluation, utilizing diagnostic instruments and techniques appropriate for the area of disability or suspected disability, as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Consult with teachers, parents, and other educational personnel on matters relating to the education and/or mental health of disabled children to ensure the provision of the most appropriate education program.
- Serve as a consultant to schools in the development of educational evaluation and accountability procedures, pupil and personnel policies, service activities, curriculum, and staff development.
- Assist educational staff in implementing or modifying instructional strategies, classroom management procedures, intervention strategies, and follow‑up activities.
- Direct and supervise the activities of the school psychology interns.
- Facilitate a differentiated referral system allowing school personnel and parents to request intensive psycho‑educational evaluation and consultation of non-disabled children.
