As an Instructional Aide, you will play a vital role in shaping the success of students in Grades K‑12 by providing personalized support, supervision, and guidance both in the classroom and within the community. You will collaborate closely with classroom educators to implement each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and tailor instruction to their unique learning needs.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a supportive, welcoming, and high‑achieving learning environment where all students feel safe and valued.
  • Implement engaging, individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on‑site and in community settings, aligned with each student’s goals.
  • Instruct and monitor students during classroom lessons, ensuring instructional fidelity and applying targeted strategies to enhance comprehension and course completion.
  • Track student progress against established timelines and communicate with teachers regarding successes and areas needing additional intervention.
  • Manage student behavior effectively, reinforcing school philosophy and policies, and applying consistent disciplinary measures in collaboration with teachers.
  • Support students facing academic challenges, encouraging personal growth and assisting them in developing essential community, vocational, leisure, domestic, academic, and social skills.
  • Complete clear, accurate, and timely documentation of behaviors and performance, provide meaningful observations, and offer actionable recommendations to staff.
  • Assist with preparation of detailed behavioral reports, daily activity logs, and other necessary documentation.
  • Communicate proactively with students, colleagues, supervisors, and families regarding needs, achievements, and concerns.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student records and information.
  • Participate actively in assurance and accreditation activities to support site performance standards.
  • Attend school‑wide, student‑parent, and advisory meetings to foster collaborative support networks.
  • Respond positively and constructively to formal and informal feedback, demonstrating continuous professional growth.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support student success and overall effectiveness of the educational community.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and passage of a basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or a closely related field preferred.
  • Licensed or in the process of obtaining a paraprofessional, para educator, or education assistant credential preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company‑approved crisis management training.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an alternative, special education, or behavioral health program.
  • Experience working with children having severe learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavioral disorders, and related disabilities.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency in motivating students and having critical conversations that move them toward realistic goals.
  • Motivational skills and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Strong oral and written communication, organizational, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
