Responsibilities- Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following all Covestro standard operating procedures.
- Repair and maintain process control systems, programmable logic controllers, HMI programs, laboratory instrumentation, and electrical controls.
- Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as extruders, pelletizers, screeners, vacuum pumps, heat exchangers, electric motors, and compressors.
- Troubleshoot issues with HVAC systems, cooling towers and chillers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs; program control systems.
- Monitor project start‑ups and design electrical systems and instrument control loops.
- Evaluate instrument and electrical hardware; communicate with manufacturer’s field engineers as needed.
- Initiate purchase requisitions for parts and equipment; repair or replace defective parts using hand or power tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all systems and equipment; troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Perform basic pipe fitting tasks; dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools.
- Lubricate and clean parts; coordinate and schedule projects with maintenance, production, laboratory and storeroom.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
- Install and remove machines utilizing various rigging devices; examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- Repair and maintain HVAC systems, cooling towers and chillers; repair barrel cooling systems (steam).
- High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and pneumatic control systems.
- Required to take Work Keys Test and receive qualifying scores on Workplace Documents (6), Applied Math (6), Applied Technology (5) and Graphic Literacy (5).
- Associates degree in Electromechanical Technology or closely related field and 2 years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and pneumatic control systems.
- Experience using Allen Bradley equipment.
- Obtain and maintain a valid forklift license.
- Ability to read and understand diagrams, sketches, operation manuals.
- Ability to operate Windows‑based computer systems and use SAP system to perform maintenance and engineering tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Starting pay between $38.37 and $40.71 per hour (paid bi‑weekly).
