Pay: $22-$25/hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (1-2 hours OT/day possible)
Location: Central Ohio (Travel to multiple data centers)
Duration: 6+ months, with high potential extension

Position Overview
This role supports a large-scale Battery Swap Project inside mission-critical data centers. Technicians will assist with the removal and replacement of approximately 9,000 UPS batteries, each weighing 110-120 lbs. This is a labor-intensive, hands-on position ideal for candidates who have tool experience, reliable, and interested in building a career in the DC Power Plant and critical infrastructure space. No prior UPS or battery experience is required - full training is provided, including formal Ener Sys online training and on-the-job instruction from experienced technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Battery replacement - Remove, handle, and install UPS batteries weighing 110-120 lbs.
- Cable work - Assist with cable routing, hardware installation, and basic electrical support tasks.
- Equipment handling - Safely move, lift, and position heavy battery units.
- Site support - Support technicians inside data centers and follow all safety protocols.
- Documentation - Complete required logs, checklists, and project documentation.
- Training completion - Complete initial Ener Sys online training prior to starting field work.
- Construction-style environment inside active data centers
- Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM
- 1-2 hours of overtime daily may be required
- Travel to multiple data centers within the Central Ohio market
- Work performed around electrical equipment and heavy materials
- Ability to lift 110-120 lb batteries repeatedly throughout the day
- Transportation - Must have reliable personal transportation (cannot walk, bike, or be dropped off)
- Work boots - Must own composite-toe or steel-toe boots with a raised heel
- Compliance - Must pass drug test, B and vaccination requirements
- Work ethic - Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Teamwork - Ability to follow directions and work safely with a team
- Experience with:
- Cable installation
- Hardware installation
- General labor
- Interest in DC power, critical infrastructure, or data center operations
- Provided: Project-specific materials and safety training
- Required: Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, etc.)
- This is an excellent entry point into the data center power industry, offering hands-on experience with UPS systems, battery technology, and critical facility operations.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
