Job Description & How to Apply Below
The mission of the Mathematics & Data Analytics Program is to foster intellectual curiosity and nurture a hunger for truth and possibility, using a Christ-centered approach to equip students to problem-solve creatively, leverage data effectively, and embrace transformative thinking. Our department serves motivated majors as well as cohorts in engineering, nursing, business, biology and many other majors. Courses taught will be selected to minimize distinct course preps and encourage collaboration with the mathematics faculty.
About the Job:
George Fox University, a Christ-centered community, prepares students spiritually, academically, and professionally to think with clarity, act with integrity, and serve with passion. Professors teach all truth as God's truth, integrating all fields of learning around the person and work of Jesus Christ, bringing the divine revelations through sense, reason, and intuition to the confirming test of Scripture. All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church.
In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the university lifestyle statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith. George Fox University is an institution that values diversity as an essential dimension of God's design for human communities. In seeking to become a more inclusive community, we especially encourage applications from women and candidates from racial and ethnic backgrounds that are underrepresented on our faculty.
Job Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:
* Teaching a broad range of undergraduate courses within the Mathematics & Data Analytics curriculum-especially proof-based courses-in multiple in-person class meetings per week, supporting both majors and non-majors.
* Teaching and supporting strong programs in the sciences and engineering, as well as offering advanced courses for majors.
* Demonstrating a commitment to excellence in teaching.
* Developing and sustaining an ongoing program of scholarship and research; all research areas within mathematics will be considered.
* Collaborating actively with departmental colleagues, providing program leadership and development, and advising students.
* Participate in the work of the department and university including university committees as needed.
* Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
* By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
* Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
* Other duties as assigned.
We're Looking for Candidates Who Have:
* An earned doctorate in Mathematics (or closely related field). Applicants who are A.B.D in a Ph.D program will be considered.
* A commitment to excellence in teaching.
* A commitment to develop a sustained pattern of research which includes student mentorship.
* Excellent professional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
* Commitment to maintaining consistently high professional standards.
* The demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a growing, innovative team.
* The ability to work full-time, in-person.
* A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
* A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.
* A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
