Bilingual Educational Assistant - Summer School - (2 Positions)
Location:
Newberg, Oregon.
Under the direction of the Summer School Administrator/Coordinator, provide support to small groups of students with limited English proficiency in a variety of computer-based instructional classes. Courses will be delivered in students’ native languages, and staff will support students in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Staff are responsible for ensuring student safety and maintaining a positive learning environment at all times.
ResponsibilitiesProvide daily updates to the Program Coordinator regarding student progress, challenges or barriers, and any additional needs. Offer encouragement, helpful suggestions, and general guidance on how to successfully complete high school‑level courses.
QualificationsProficient in computer use, strong language arts and math skills. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students and parents, maintain accurate records, and commit to attending all required staff training, in‑service meetings, and scheduled employment dates.
EducationTwo years of college, associate's degree or passing score on a para‑professional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law.
Job Requirements- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
- Proficiency in Spanish and ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Ability to comprehend curriculum materials up to the 12th‑grade level.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, staff, students, parents and community.
- Physical ability to walk frequently, stand, bend or twist, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift or move up to 40 pounds.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Works in a classroom environment in close proximity to students and other adults. May encounter students with emotional problems or hostile attitudes. Able to use a telephone, operate a computer, and use other office equipment. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings.
Terms of EmploymentTemporary position when Summer School is in session.

Hours:
June 16, 2026 – June 30, 2026 8:00am – 4:00pm; NO SCHOOL JUNE 19, 2026.
Salary Range (9b of the 2025-26 Classified Wage Schedule): $20.67–$26.30 per hour. Newberg School District pays 6% PERS contribution, provides a generous insurance cap and long‑term disability insurance. Optional Life, AD&D insurance, Short Term Disability, Tax Shelter Annuities, Section 125 health and dependent care accounts, and Employee Assistance Program through Canopy also available to all staff.
