ESY Educational Assistant IV - Summer School - IN DISTRICT APPLICANTS ONLY
Edwards Elementary School, Newberg, Oregon. Classified, temporary summer school position.
Job SummaryAssist the ESY teacher providing support services to qualifying K-8 students.
Qualifications- Must be Orton Gillingham trained and/or familiar with specific student intervention and educational needs regarding transition and implementation of behavior support plan.
- Previous experience with students with special needs.
- Two years of college, associate's degree or passing score on a para‑professional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law.
- Language skills:
Ability to read English and other designated languages as required, comprehend curriculum materials through grade 12, and write clear and concise communications in English and other languages as required. - Mathematical skills:
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Reasoning ability:
Apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. - Other skills and abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents, and community. - Physical demands:
Must be able to walk frequently, stand continuously, frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk, occasionally reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; use a computer for long periods.
Classroom environment in close proximity to students and other adults. May encounter students with emotional problems or hostile attitudes. May use telephone, operate a computer, and other office equipment. May need to drive to other program sites and meetings.
Terms of EmploymentWorks when migrant preschool is in session. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
Work Days / Hours8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday, July 6 – July 30.
Salary & Benefits- Salary range: $20.67 to $26.30 per hour (2025-26 Classified Wage Schedule).
