Job Summary

Provide assistance to the District Library and Instructional Technology teacher; serve the campus with library services.

Qualifications
  • Collaborative ability with the district librarian to set up and manage effective library procedures.
  • Supervision of students in the library during library lessons.
  • Management of library and technology circulation, creation of an engaging and nurturing educational environment, and management of maker space activities.
  • Knowledge of automated circulation systems, library rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with school library/media center practices and procedures.
  • Computer and technology skills.
  • Experience working in a library and/or a public school setting preferred; experience in assessment work preferred.
  • Associate’s Degree or a minimum of 72 college credits.
  • No certification required.
Essential Job Functions
  • Establish and maintain procedures for effective circulation and maintenance of technology equipment in partnership with the district technology department.
  • Manage circulation of library materials and technology devices to students and staff.
  • Assist with cataloging purchased materials in collaboration with the district librarian.
  • Maintain and update the Destiny Library catalog to reflect currently enrolled student accounts and currently employed staff accounts.
  • Answer telephone calls and assist staff and patrons with varied requests.
  • Receive, inspect, and process incoming equipment and materials.
  • Train and supervise student aides in routine library tasks.
  • Maintain inventory of technology equipment and library materials.
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies.
  • Process student  and maintain individual student pictures.
  • Manage staff, train, and proctor all state‑required assessments.
  • Repair books and equipment as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Skills:

    Ability to read, write, and present in English; ability to communicate with Spanish‑speaking students and adults preferred.

    Skills:

    Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; solve problems involving a few concrete variables.
  • Other

    Skills and Abilities:

    Work collaboratively and establish effective relationships with co‑workers, supervisors, staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment

    The role requires frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Employees may use a computer for extended periods. The work environment is a school library setting with possible exposure to emotional or hostile student behavior.

    Antonia Crater Elementary. Term:
    Works when school is in session; additional days as needed for library setup and closeout. Calendar: 16 hours per week, 190-day calendar. Salary range: $19.11 to $23.49 per hour.
