Overview

This position is accountable for product quality assurance for all sourced materials and components and works closely with Purchasing to select, manage, and develop suppliers.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain processes for supplier selection and evaluation, performance measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop processes to improve supplier development, supplier and product qualification, and incoming quality inspections.
  • Develop strategies for supplier quality programs and initiatives, including risk identification and mitigation efforts with the company’s highest risk suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and lean principles to assure purchased components meet specifications.
  • Ensure project and/or process control documentation is compliant with requirements and contracts.
  • Provide adequate resources to support purchasing, engineering, and production, while ensuring that personal and direct‑report work assignments are carried out in a complete and timely manner.
  • Contribute to the achievement of department and cross‑departmental goals/projects in quality, safety, on‑time delivery and cost efficiency by analyzing and improving production workflow, methods, and controls.
  • Remain current with new technology or areas of expertise and identify training needs for all direct reports, promoting each direct report’s personal development for job enrichment and growth.
  • Oversee activities in the development and introduction of new products from a supply‑chain standpoint.
  • Direct project plan development, assign supplier quality engineering resources, provide design‑for‑manufacturability and production expertise, and provide project direction/leadership to engineers to achieve goals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including supervision or project leadership, and ability to effectively coordinate and lead cross‑functional teams.
  • Advanced project and time‑management skills and experience required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% (primarily domestic, some international).
  • Background check and drug screening required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASQ, CQA or CQE certification.
  • International supplier experience.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp and operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and/or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);

such as safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
