Phlebotomist (Contract, Potential for Permanent)

Position: Phlebotomist 5191

Location: Newberg, OR

Schedule: 6:30AM to 6:30PM Monday–Friday, covering 2 Saturdays per month. Shifts are 8 hours but may vary to start as early as 6:30 or end as late as 6:30PM depending on location.

Projected Duration: 3 months, with potential for permanent.

Position Type: Float job covering Newberg, Bridgeport, Sherwood, and Portland. Home base will be the closest PSC to your location. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Mileage expenses paid.

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process in a clear but courteous manner, and any other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and place samples appropriately.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.
