Phlebotomist

This is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent assignment.

Newberg, OR

Schedule:

7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday. Will need to cover one Saturday per month.

Projected duration: 3 months with potential for permanent placement.

Benefits are available. Mileage expenses are paid for the float position covering IOP and PSC locations. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training and making workflow recommendations.

• Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal).
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and placement.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.
