Job Overview
Powder Coat Technician I performs routine and repetitive tasks associated with pre‑ and post‑coating operations, working with a trainer. The role includes finishing, hand deburring, parts cleaning, routing, basic drilling and tapping, masking, racking parts for painting, and operating various machines and equipment in the assigned area.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate painting equipment in assigned production areas.
- Prepare and maintain paint booths (manual and automatic).
- Inspect assigned work, achieving and maintaining quality and productivity standards.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines.
- Read and follow blueprint or production order checklists, method sheets, and record work information on job cards.
- Route parts safely and efficiently using material handling equipment.
- Maintain a neat and organized workstation and collaborate effectively with the team.
- Participate actively in department continuous improvement efforts.
- Proficient reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and pass on information to shift peers and leadership.
- Strong time‑management and resource‑allocation skills.
- Manual dexterity and basic math calculation ability.
- Basic computer competency.
- Previous powder coat manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Background check and drug screening required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds routinely and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Manual hand dexterity required for operating tools and equipment repetitively.
- Capability to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, twist, kneel, climb steps, and use foot controls throughout an entire shift.
- Potential exposure to chemicals, noise, vibration, and dust; appropriate PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, respiratory protection, hand protection) may be required.
- Ability to comply with OSHA respirator use requirements where necessary.
