Job Summary

The Electrical Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical systems supporting the production of standard products, Engineer-to-Order (ETO), and custom equipment. Working within a vertically integrated manufacturing environment, this role builds complete machine assemblies by integrating electrical control system components in accordance with engineering documentation, quality standards, and customer requirements.

Working closely with Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering, the Electrical Assembly Technician supports both production and new product development by resolving technical issues, validating designs, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts that enhance product quality, manufacturability, safety, and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions

- Electrical & Mechanical Assembly

  • Assemble, wire, integrate, and test production and prototype electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Perform electrical assembly including control panels, wiring harnesses, PLC components, sensors, switches, power distribution, connectors, soldering, crimping, cable routing, and termination.
  • Integrate electrical systems with hydraulic power units, welding equipment, motors, actuators, pneumatic components, and other machine subsystems.
  • Verify parts and assemblies against engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Assemble, configure, and operate equipment to verify functionality and compliance with engineering and customer requirements.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments and electrical test equipment to verify alignment, tolerances, continuity, voltage, and overall system performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control system issues during assembly, testing, and final acceptance.
  • Collaborate with Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve technical issues, validate design changes, and improve manufacturability.
  • Support prototype development by identifying design concerns, documenting findings, and recommending practical manufacturing improvements.
  • Follow production schedules, work orders, engineering change notices (ECNs), and documented manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accurate assembly, testing, and quality documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to assembly methods, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and product reliability.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Modify or fabricate simple fixtures, brackets, and tooling to support assembly operations.

- Quality, Safety & Teamwork

  • Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards, workmanship requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Train and mentor less experienced assemblers on assembly techniques, quality standards, and safe work practices.
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment while complying with all company safety and quality policies.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, flexibility, and the ability to work overtime as needed to meet production requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electronics, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four to seven years of experience in electrical or electro-mechanical assembly within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and bills of material.
