Key Responsibilities
- Lift, move, and handle steel and other materials weighing 50+ pounds regularly.
- Accurately fill customer orders in a timely manner.
- Assist customers with steel purchases by identifying products, cutting materials, loading orders, and providing product recommendations.
- Pull, cut, and prepare orders manually and/or using a forklift while following proper lifting and safety procedures.
- Operate shop equipment after training, including:
- Saws, Ironworker, Drill presses, Other production equipment
- Process customer orders and special orders with accurate documentation and paperwork.
- Use tape measures and digital calipers to identify, measure, and label materials accurately.
- Read and work with fractions and standard measurements.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify paperwork, identify discrepancies, and safely store materials.
- Operate forklifts to load, unload, and secure materials on trucks and trailers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance, including replacing consumables and reporting maintenance needs.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Required
- Ability to safely lift and carry 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work independently and remain self‑motivated.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to read a tape measure and work with fractional measurements.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Team‑oriented attitude and willingness to assist where needed.
- Flexibility to work overtime as business needs require.
Preferred
- Forklift certification or previous forklift experience.
- Experience with inventory control, inspection documentation, or fleet tracking systems.
- Experience working in a warehouse, steel service center, fabrication shop, or construction‑related environment.
Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 30‑minute unpaid lunch break
Physical Requirements- Regularly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds or more.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery, materials, vehicles, and equipment.
This position works in both warehouse and outdoor yard settings within a steel distribution and fabrication environment. Employees regularly work around heavy materials, forklifts, trucks, trailers, and production equipment. Required PPE must be worn at all times.
