Newberry College (NCAA Division II), located in Newberry, South Carolina, seeks a dynamic and innovative professional to serve as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Creative Services. This leadership role is pivotal in shaping the athletics brand, driving fan engagement, and enhancing the student‑athlete experience through compelling storytelling and progressive digital strategies.
Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletic Director, the successful candidate will lead a team responsible for athletics communications, creative content, live video streaming, and statistical reporting for a 26‑sport, 800‑student‑athlete program. The Communications and Creative Services team consists of a full‑time assistant, three graduate assistants, and student employees. This position combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution and requires a collaborative, service‑oriented leader committed to the mission and values of Newberry College, NCAA Division II, and the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a key member of the athletics administrative team
- Develop and execute a creative content strategy that enhances brand identity, fan engagement, and recruiting efforts
- Lead production of video, graphic, and written content for digital platforms, highlighting student‑athletes and the athletics experience
- Use artificial intelligence tools to streamline operations
- Oversee athletics communications, including website content, press releases, feature stories, and official statistics
- Recruit, train, evaluate, and mentor graduate assistants and student employees, preparing them for future careers in athletics communications, digital media, and live production
- Create, produce, and oversee live video streams for all home athletic events, ensuring compliance with conference and Flo Sports standards
- Serve as primary media contact and collaborate with coaches, game operations, facilities, IT, campus partners, and conference personnel
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of NCAA and conference and other organization statistical reports and nominations
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with day‑to‑day execution
- Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Three (3) years of experience in collegiate athletics communications or creative services preferred
- Experience with live streaming and broadcast production
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and After Effects
- Experience with Genius Sports, Stat Crew, SIDEARM, or similar platforms
Knowledge of NCAA Division II statistics and communications practices
