- Newberry is looking for a Maintenance Engineer
- Fiberglass Crossarm

We are seeking a self‑directed and innovative Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance Team, with a dedicated focus on Transmission and Distribution Fiberglass Crossarms serving the electrical utility market. This role manages and integrates the manufacturing engineering and maintenance functions at the facility. Responsible for overseeing product design, manufacturing processes, cost control, and the full spectrum of skilled trades and equipment maintenance operations.

Job Duties
  • Oversee product design, manufacturing processes and cost reduction and control
  • Manage the design and maintenance of production machinery and facility equipment
  • Plan, schedule, and direct the work of skilled trades employees including machine shop, pipe fitting, electrical, carpentry, painting and other maintenance disciplines
  • Estimate personnel needs, assign work, and ensure completion dates are met
  • Interpret and ensure consistent application of organizational policies and procedures
  • Provide training and development of engineering and maintenance staff
  • Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately
  • Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area)
  • Follow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures
  • Apply Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles to increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Develop and lead capital expenditure (Cap Ex) projects end‑to‑end, including design, sourcing, quoting, installation and follow‑up
  • Analyze equipment performance and maintenance history to limit downtime and maximize efficiency
  • Manage inventory of routine and critical spare parts and equipment
  • Maintain and troubleshoot PLC programs and other automated control systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Experience and Education Required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles and maintenance operations
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex tasks typically following established processes
  • Proven ability to lead and direct the work of other employees, with full authority for personnel decisions including hiring, performance and disciplinary actions
  • Experience administering established policies and procedures, with impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning and procedural change
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution, or accreditation from a technical school combined with an applicable skilled
  • Minimum of 7 years of combined experience in manufacturing engineering and/or maintenance management
  • Intermediate to advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership and management skills with ability to foster teamwork
  • Ability to follow and communicate written and verbal directions
  • Sound judgment and decision‑making skills
  • Creativity and problem‑solving capability
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Technical and design expertise spanning engineering and skilled trades
