The Maintenance Manager – Plastics will provide technical support for the plant infrastructure (power, water, air, lighting, gas, etc.) and manage projects related to electrical/mechanical support systems, building renovations, and other infrastructure items to support manufacturing activities. The role leads a team of direct reports and coordinates all maintenance activities on the 3rd shift at the Louisville, KY facility.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact within the plant on the 3rd shift to provide technical support and consultation on plant infrastructure and facility support systems.
  • Provide technical expertise on plant layout, connections into/out of the plant, and troubleshoot facility operational issues.
  • Own and facilitate effective utilization and operation of facility support systems and structure, including lighting, air compressors, electrical (including breaker maintenance), plumbing, vacuum pumps, sprinklers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, boilers, heaters, electric volts, process waste, drainage, dock doors, roof, fans, back‑up generator.
  • Supervise hourly bargaining unit maintenance staff, developing, interpreting and implementing policies and procedures; evaluating staff; making hiring and termination recommendations; and addressing subordinate complaints in partnership with HR.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal codes related to safe maintenance work practices, as measured through internal department compliance audits and safety records.
  • Coordinate all maintenance activities in the assigned area with other departments to ensure company goals are met, as measured by key performance indicators.
  • Balance workloads and resources to achieve maximum results.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team as needed on appropriate problem resolution.
  • Aid in troubleshooting and downtime response – including electrical wiring, machine controls hardware/software, PLC and high/low voltage power distribution.
  • Respond to emergencies, coordinate activities with other responders, direct staff and resource utilization to make the necessary repair in a cost‑effective and timely manner.
  • Ensure staff is trained in complex maintenance activities and follows standard operating procedures, as measured by skill assessments and work order audits.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience, including military, and graduation from an accredited senior high school or GED equivalent.
  • 5+ years supporting operation and maintenance in a production facility.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Ability to steer and influence a team of skilled maintenance employees.
  • Working knowledge of software packages such as MS Office Suite (Project, Word, Excel) and email.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and EPA requirements related to maintenance.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven team approach to management.
  • Working knowledge of best practices involving mechanical and electrical design, PLC, maintenance, and repair fundamentals of automated industrial production equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years in the supervision of employees in a union environment.
  • Previous experience with injection molding.
