This position is supporting students in Kindergarten through fifth grade.
Prepare and implement daily lesson plans for instruction for students with multiple disabilities in K - 5th grade that are standards-aligned and/or aligned with addressing student IEP goals.
Communicate and collaborate with parents on a daily basis.
Identify and implement augmentative alternative communication tools (communication devices, symbols, Step-by-Step switches), audio/visual material, learning technology, and adaptive tools that engage students in the classroom activities in meaningful ways.
Create and share a daily or weekly schedule for each student/grade level and review it at the start of each day with instructional staff.
Attend and facilitate a weekly consultation with team members to discuss students progress, needs, etc.
Consistently collaborate and communicate with general education teachers (pre-K and first grade) about upcoming lessons in which students will be included to determine necessary accommodations and/or modifications for the student to fully access the lesson content. This may be in a regular meeting or in informal conversations during or at the end of the school day.
Ensure instructional assistants are aware of and have access to necessary materials and accommodations for lessons/activities.
Engage in daily home-school communication with families via email and/or written home notes.
Implement recommendations from Speech, OT, PT, Vision, and other therapists into students' daily routines; communicate these recommendations to instructional assistants.
Support students in their activities of daily living, including toileting, feeding, and other personal care routines, with the support of instructional staff as needed
Modify the classroom schedule as needed to accommodate shifts in student needs, therapist schedule changes, etc.
Coordinate the use of student-specific supports, including communication devices and other communication supports, positioning equipment (e.g. gait trainers, standers), and other assistive equipment
Consistently collect and analyze data connected to student IEP goals and student-specific core academic curriculum, using it to inform next-steps in instruction.
Summarize data for IEP objectives and communicate student progress clearly in progress notes"
