Job DescriptionPosition Summary
River Valley Charter School, a public Montessori school serving 288 students in grades K–8, seeks Lead Teachers for the 2026–2027 school year. Rooted in Montessori principles and the history of the Merrimack Valley, RVCS is committed to educating the whole child while fostering independence, curiosity, and respect for others.
Responsibilities- Design and maintain a prepared Montessori environment that supports hands-on, inquiry-based learning
- Observe, guide, and assess students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Establish a classroom culture grounded in respect, independence, and collaboration
- Communicate regularly with families and build strong partnerships
- Collaborate with assistant teachers, specialists, and administrators
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including school observations
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Montessori certification (AMS, AMI, or MACTE-accredited) in the applicable level
- Strong classroom management and student-centered approach
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Holds a Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher Endorsement or, if assigned English Learners and not currently endorsed, agrees to obtain the SEI Endorsement within one (1) year of assignment in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requirements.
- 2+ years of teaching experience (Montessori preferred)
- Massachusetts teaching license (or eligibility)
- Experience in a public or charter school
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
