OverviewThe Commercial Lender is responsible for attracting, developing and maintaining new commercial loans, commercial deposit, and commercial banking relationships with individuals, non-profits and businesses within the Bank’s footprint. This position also cross-sells other bank products and services to this targeted client group and represents the Bank within the community.

Responsibilities- Seeks out new business opportunities within the bank’s defined market areas and participates in business development efforts to attract and retain quality clients.
- Develops and maintains a network of professional relationships and referral sources to include business brokers, accountants, attorneys and other centers of influence to enhance new business generation.
- Screens and interviews new loan applicants, collects and analyzes financial and related data to establish creditworthiness, establishes and negotiates, when necessary, credit terms and continually monitors loan repayment activities.
- Promotes and sells related bank financial products and services and actively engages with business partners to implement strategies to expand existing client relationships and acquire new relationships.
- Works closely with portfolio manager to manage all aspects of the loan relationship including credit analysis and loan approvals, loan closing, timely completion of credit file commentary and collection of financial information to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Verifies transactions and account balances, ensuring compliance with bank policies and state and federal regulations and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as applicable to the role.
- Participates in civic, social and community relations activities to promote and strengthen the image of the bank.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial lending and commercial banking required and a bachelor’s degree with business focus preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of appropriate credit structure and key factors of Bank policy guidelines related to assessing credit quality.
- Demonstrated ability to assess a loan applicant risk profile and manage that credit structure and actively manage the risk inherent to lending.
- Strong working knowledge of Commercial loan and deposit/Treasury products.
- Proficient with office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others.
- Highly organized and proactive planner with strong time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Formal sales and/or credit training is preferred.
The salary range represents an estimate based on market data for this position. Final compensation decisions are made based on experience, skills, and internal equity to ensure fairness and consistency across our organization.
