The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the activities and overseeing the daily operations of the Plastics Injection Molding Department to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of high-quality molded components. This position will provide guidance and direct leadership to molding technicians, machine operators, material handlers, and support personnel while maintaining compliance with quality standards, production schedules, and safety requirements.
PRODUCTIONSUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the injection-molding department.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality, efficiency, and customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor machine utilization, labor productivity, scrap rates, and overall department performance.
- Assign personnel and equipment resources to maximize operational effectiveness.
- Lead shift startup meetings and communicate production priorities and expectations.
- Train, mentor, and develop molding operators, technicians, and support personnel.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action when necessary.
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and waste-reduction initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate production records and departmental documentation.
- Coordinate with Scheduling, Materials, Quality, and Maintenance departments to meet customer demands.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager, or Chief Operations Officer.
- At least 5 years of applicable experience with progressive responsibility in a manufacturing production environment.
- Expert level skills in the areas of employee training & development, press operations, mold care, scheduling and prioritizing, quality standards, and troubleshooting of quality issues.
- Ability to navigate an MRP system at an expert level.
- Full understanding of LEAN methodologies as demonstrated by the implementation of quality initiatives.
