Description

The Chemical Facilities Technician I supports the safe and efficient production of specialty chemicals through laboratory and pilot-scale manufacturing activities. Under direct supervision, this role assists with chemical synthesis, operation of specialized processing equipment including high-pressure reactors, maintenance of production systems, inventory management, and facility support activities. The technician is responsible for maintaining accurate production records while adhering to all safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Chemical Manufacturing and Process Support
  • Assist in the synthesis and processing of specialty chemicals using established laboratory and production procedures.
  • Operate, monitor, and support high-pressure reactors and other specialized processing equipment.
  • Assist in assembling, configuring, leak-testing, and troubleshooting experimental and production equipment, including pressure-rated systems.
  • Collect, compile, and document process data to support production activities, process improvements, and technical evaluations.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, and reports associated with manufacturing and development activities as required.
Equipment and Material Management
  • Monitor, inventory, and maintain adequate levels of raw materials, consumables, and production supplies.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and upkeep of production equipment and associated utilities.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and maintenance personnel to identify and resolve equipment issues.
Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and legible production records in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality system requirements.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives as required.
Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety Support
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist with facility maintenance activities and general building support functions.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities of similar scope and complexity as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical training in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, laboratory operations, industrial production, or handling hazardous materials preferred.
  • Basic understanding of chemical safety practices and industrial work environments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to learn and operate chemical processing equipment, including high-pressure systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and move throughout manufacturing and facility areas.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or reach.
  • Frequently required to climb ladders, platforms, and stairs to access equipment and storage areas.
  • Frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently required to operate material-handling equipment such as hand trucks, drum carts, pallet jacks, and similar equipment.
  • Occasionally required to perform outdoor facility maintenance activities, including snow and ice removal.
  • Must be able to work in environments with varying temperatures, humidity levels, and noise conditions.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection and comply with the Ascensus Specialties Respiratory Protection Program.
  • Must be capable of wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, safety glasses, chemical-resistant clothing, gloves, and safety footwear.
