Job SummaryWe are seeking a full‑time, 40‑hour Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team at 260 Merrimac Street, Newburyport, MA. The practice operates Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM‑5:00 PM. The APP will provide 36 hours of direct patient care and 4 hours of dedicated administrative time weekly. There are no weekend, holiday, or on‑call responsibilities.
ResponsibilitiesThe APP will deliver comprehensive primary care services to adult patients, including annual wellness visits, evaluation and treatment of acute concerns, chronic disease management, coordination with specialists, and promotion of preventive health. The role supports a high‑quality, patient‑centered practice built on strong clinical teamwork.
Essential Functions- Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow‑up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical exam findings.
- Consistently provides high‑quality and timely documentation: admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions in accordance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
Education:
Master’s Degree in Nursing (required). Cannot accept experience in lieu of a degree.
Licenses/credentials:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN‑NP) – State License, Generic – HR Only required.
Preferred experience as a Nurse Practitioner: 0‑1 year. New graduate Nurse Practitioners must have prior RN experience.
