Position Overview:

Newcastle Elementary School, a part of Newcastle Public Schools, is seeking a qualified and compassionate Title I Reading Teacher’s Assistant for the 2025–2026 school year. This position is federally funded and will assist in providing targeted reading instruction and intervention to students who qualify for Title I support. Newcastle Public Schools operates on a four-day school week.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher to support reading instruction and literacy development
  • Provide one-on-one or small group reading intervention to identified students
  • Assist in monitoring student progress and maintaining instructional records
  • Help prepare and organize instructional materials
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement instructional plans
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to instructional support
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must meet federal Title I paraprofessional qualifications:
    • Completion of at least 48 college credit hours, or
    • Associate degree or higher, or
    • Successful completion of the Oklahoma General Education Paraprofessional Assessment (or willingness to obtain)
  • Basic literacy and math competency
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with elementary-age children in an instructional setting
  • Familiarity with literacy strategies and reading intervention programs
  • Ability to collaborate with staff and follow instructional plans
  • Patience, consistency, and a commitment to student growth
