Boiler Shop is a historic venue located in Newcastle Upon Tyne, originally constructed in the 1820s for the world’s first locomotive works, Robert Stephenson & Company. Following a major refurbishment in 2016, the space has been transformed into a vibrant arts and music center. Known for its versatility, Boiler Shop hosts live music events, club nights, exhibitions, and food and drink festivals.

The venue holds a unique cultural significance, embodying a fusion of historical legacy and modern creativity.

Role Description

We are currently seeking a Bar Supervisor for a full‑time, on‑site position at our unique venue in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The Bar Supervisor will oversee daily bar operations, manage and coordinate staff, and ensure exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include leading and training team members, maintaining a welcoming and efficient bar environment, monitoring inventory, and assisting in operational planning for events. This role requires dynamic leadership and a dedication to creating a positive experience for all guests.

Qualifications
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills to maintain high-quality guest experiences.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including inventory management and quality control.
  • Experience in staff training and development to ensure team efficiency and performance.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holiday events.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and licensing laws is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume or arts and entertainment venue, is advantageous.
