Bar Supervisor – Shearer's Bar, Newcastle

Location:

St James' Park, Newcastle, United Kingdom. Salary: £29,311 pa.

Hours:

40hrs per week (5/7), mainly evenings and weekends. Parking and meals provided on duty.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer‑focused Bar Supervisor to join the team at Shearer's Bar, one of Newcastle's most popular hospitality destinations within the iconic St James' Park.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and inspire a team of bar staff and glass collectors.
  • Support the management team in delivering outstanding customer experiences.
  • Ensure smooth running of busy matchdays, events and peak trading periods.
  • Drive sales through effective upselling and product knowledge.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and compliance.
  • Support staff training, development and onboarding.
  • Manage stock control, deliveries and stock takes.
  • Complete cash handling and till reconciliation procedures accurately.
  • Champion health & safety, licensing and food safety standards.
  • Lead by example to create a positive, engaging and high‑performing team culture.
What You Bring
  • Previous supervisory experience within a bar, hospitality, leisure or licensed venue environment.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong leadership and team motivation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience working in a busy, customer‑facing environment.
  • Good understanding of licensing regulations and health & safety requirements.
  • Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and event days.
  • Desirable:
    Experience working within stadiums, arenas or other high‑volume venues.
  • Desirable:
    Personal Licence Holder.
  • Desirable:
    Experience using POS systems.
  • Desirable:
    Knowledge of stock control and ordering processes.
  • Desirable:
    Event or large‑scale hospitality experience.
