Laboratory Scientist

CY Partners is supporting a well established life sciences organisation in Newcastle upon Tyne with the appointment of a Laboratory Scientist on an initial 12 month contract.

This role offers the opportunity to join a collaborative laboratory environment, develop a broad range of biomedical and laboratory skills and contribute to critical operational activities within a regulated setting.

You’ll be part of a supportive team, working across a broad range of laboratory activities that underpin quality and compliance. The role provides structured processes, exposure to regulated workflows and opportunities to build confidence across a range of core laboratory techniques.

It is well suited to a Scientist who enjoys practical lab work, values accuracy and consistency and is keen to continue developing within a professional biomedical or life sciences environment.

• Supporting Quality Control and operational laboratory activities within agreed timelines
• Handling, preparing, storing and archiving samples in line with internal procedures
• Performing laboratory techniques to support studies and operational outputs
• Maintaining clear, accurate and traceable laboratory documentation
• Supporting laboratory readiness through equipment checks, stock control and ordering
• Working in line with quality systems, regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures
• Collaborating with colleagues across the team and related scientific functions

• Some hands on experience in a biomedical or life sciences environment, ideally within a regulated laboratory
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Ability to work effectively with moderate supervision
• A proactive team player with a genuine desire to learn and grow your career
• Degree level qualification in a biomedical or scientific discipline, or equivalent experience
