Ecologist/Ornithologist - Newcastle

Overview

We are seeking an Ecologist with 1.5+ years full‑time experience in nature conservation or ecological consultancy, with a particular emphasis on ornithology, to join our Newcastle team. You will work on projects such as wader and farmland bird studies and receive mentoring and a comprehensive internal training programme.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct ecological assessments, collect and analyse data, support project delivery and client liaison across diverse sectors including heritage, renewable energy, residential, leisure and mineral projects.

Qualifications
  • 1.5+ years full‑time experience in ecological consultancy or nature conservation
  • Broad ecological skill‑set and, ideally, relevant protected species licences
  • Working knowledge of current wildlife policy and legislation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Some project management and client liaison experience
  • Enthusiasm for the environment and desire to promote high professional standards
  • Organised, flexible and highly motivated approach to work
  • Good BSc and/or MSc in a relevant subject
  • Full driving licence and access to own transport
