Enviresearch Ltd is seeking an Ecotoxicologist to join our specialist environmental team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to cover maternity leave.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ecotoxicologist with experience in environmental risk assessment to work on a diverse portfolio of regulatory projects, supporting the registration and risk assessment of plant protection products, biocides and other chemical substances across the UK and Europe. The Role

As an Ecotoxicologist, you will provide technical expertise to clients and colleagues across a variety of environmental risk assessment projects. Much of your work will focus on UK and EU plant protection product regulatory activities, although there will also be opportunities to support biocide and wider chemical regulatory programmes as well as engage in more fundamental scientific development projects relevant to chemical risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct ecotoxicological and environmental risk assessments.
  • Review, analyse and interpret scientific data and studies.
  • Prepare technical reports, scientific justifications and regulatory dossiers.
  • Provide expert advice to clients and project teams.
  • Monitor and coordinate ecotoxicology studies with external laboratories.
  • Support registration projects and regulatory submissions.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project management, proposal preparation and business development activities.
  • Keep up to date with developments in ecotoxicology and regulatory science.
Essential Requirements
  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in an environmental science discipline such as biology, chemistry or related subject.
  • Practical experience in ecotoxicology and assessing the effects of chemicals on wildlife.
  • Experience conducting environmental or chemical risk assessments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and interpret scientific data.
  • Experience producing clear, accurate and concise technical reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach while also being comfortable working independently.
Desirable Experience
  • Regulatory risk assessment experience relating to plant protection products, biocides or industrial chemicals.
  • Knowledge of UK and/or EU regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience communicating technical information to clients, regulators or stakeholders.
  • Experience with biopesticides.
  • Statistical analysis, modelling or advanced data analysis skills.
  • Environmental fate modelling experience.
  • Business development or consultancy experience.
