Plant Fitter

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join a well-established plant hire and machinery services business known for supplying high-quality equipment across the region. Operating from a busy depot in Whickham, this role offers a balance of workshop-based repairs and mobile call-outs to customer sites. You'll be part of a skilled engineering team supporting a modern fleet of heavy plant and construction machinery.

A fully equipped company vehicle is provided for mobile duties.

• Carry out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics on a wide range of heavy plant equipment
• Work both in the workshop and on customer sites as required
• Respond to breakdowns and perform on-site repairs using a company van
• Conduct routine maintenance to manufacturer standards
• Complete job cards, service reports, and parts requisitions accurately
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently
• Represent the business professionally during customer visits
• Support depot operations when not attending mobile call-outs

• Proven experience working on heavy plant machinery (excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, etc.)
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault-finding skills
• Ability to work independently on mobile jobs and as part of a workshop team
• Full UK driving licence
• Good communication and customer-facing skills
• Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise workloads

• £15.50 - £16.50 per hour - dependant on experience
• Monday-Friday, 7:00-16:30
• Overtime available at time and a half
• Company vehicle provided
