Multi‑Skilled Technician (Mechanical Bias)

Hours:

40 hrs per week.

Locations:
Coventry;
Royal Victoria Hospital, Newcastle (cover at Freeman Hospital).

Shift pattern: 2 × 12‑hour day shifts, 2 × 12‑hour night shifts, followed by 4 days off; shift allowance included.

Join Mitie’s dedicated maintenance team, delivering high‑quality support across hospital facilities. As part of our estates team you will provide full operation, maintenance, engineering and building services that meet statutory and contractual obligations.

• Carry out day‑to‑day reactive and planned maintenance to HVAC systems across the estate.
• Perform diagnostic checks, fault finding and repairs using multi‑skilled knowledge and experience.
• Ensure assets are maintained in accordance with contractual requirements, HTMs, HBMs and manufacturer's instructions.
• Accurately complete all work‑related documentation and update CAFM systems in a timely manner.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with contractual requirements.
• Maintain plant and equipment in accordance with O&M manuals, industry best practices, and relevant legislation.
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), policies, and procedures.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests within agreed time frames, completing all necessary documentation.
• Work safely and professionally at all times, adhering to company policies and procedures.
• Operate effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment in plant rooms and service enclosures.
• Perform ad‑hoc duties as required during your shift.
• Understand and contribute to the business continuity plan relevant to your area of work.

• Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑apprenticeship experience, ideally within a healthcare environment.
• Proven experience in mechanical and/or multi‑disciplinary maintenance, including DHW, LTHW, and ventilation systems.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
• Ability to work on own initiative and deliver high‑quality service.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer awareness.
• Competent IT skills, including use of a PDA.

• Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition or City & Guilds 2391.
