WATER/SEWER TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities associated with the position include the maintenance and operation of the District's water distribution system, sewage collection system, pumping stations, and reservoirs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install, service, and repair water and sewer facilities
  • Repair water and sewer line leaks
  • Flushing of water systems
  • Sewer main CCTV inspections
  • Standby (on-call) duty
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / ABILITIES
  • Lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Work in inclement weather
  • Work after hours and be available for on-call status
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, as-builts, and maps
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Follow directions and work within the scope of authority
  • Operate heavy machinery, specialized equipment, and various hand tools
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and repair of machinery
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of GIS and telemetry
  • Maintain routine records and meet schedules and timelines
  • Represent the District to customers and the public in a courteous and professional manner
  • Abide by District policies, rules, and regulations as set out by the management and Board of Commissioners
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Wastewater and Water Distribution maintenance or equivalent utility experience.
LICENSING / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Commercial Driver's License - Class B with Tanker and Air Brakes or be able to obtain within 1 Year
  • Water Distribution Manager Level 1 or the ability to obtain within 1 Year
  • Wastewater Collections Level 1 certification or the ability to obtain within 1 Year
  • Washington State Flagging Card or the ability to obtain within 1 Year
  • First Aid/CPR Card or the ability to obtain within 1 Year
  • Pre-employment driving abstract and drug screening required.
