• 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday
• 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

The individual in this position will spend most of their time overseeing statewide projects and enforcing the utilization of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS) trade labor contracts. This position is responsible for overseeing all phases of construction projects throughout the State of Connecticut at DOT-owned and operated facilities.

• Initiating projects
• Conducting site visits to develop project scopes
• Coordinating all stages of bid preparation using DAS parameters
• Enforcing adherence to specifications throughout construction

A considerable amount of in-state travel is required, and a valid driver’s license is necessary. Due to the types of interactions and the level of responsibility involved, the successful candidate must be of the highest possible ethical character. Additionally, this staff member will coordinate and communicate with designers when necessary, acting as the liaison between designers and contractors.

In order to be considered for this job opening, you must be a current State of CT employee, who has worked for the state for at least six (6) months of full-time service or full-time equivalent service, absent any applicable collective bargaining language, and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. Salary Calculations:
For current state employees, salary calculations are not necessarily comparable from one of the three branches of state government (i.e., Executive, Legislative, Judicial) to the other.

In a state agency this class is accountable for performing the most complex tasks in the review of plans and specifications and inspection of contractors' work in the general trades area to ensure conformance to standards, codes and contract documents.

• Examines materials for conformity to specifications and recommends changes;
• Checks measurements and contractor workmanship;
• Verifies quantities of materials to be used;
• Obtains samples of materials for laboratory testing as needed;
• Reviews plans and specifications and assists in their interpretation for contractors;
• Analyzes necessity for proposed plan changes and expedites their processing;
• Assists in coordination of contractors and subcontractors with overall building project schedule;
• Conducts project meetings and resolves problems;
• Coordinates inspections by other state and federal authorities;
• Reviews accuracy of contractors' requisitions and withholds payments as necessary;
• Prepares construction records and reports;
• Performs related duties as required.

• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in large public building construction including installation of building service equipment;
• Principles and practices of structural design;
