Seasonal Landscape Architecture / Landscape Design Internship – Newington, CT (May 2026 – August 31, 2026)
Position Highlights- Anticipated start date in May 2026 and ending by August 31, 2026
- Monday‑Friday, first shift
- 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week (temporary, no benefits or paid holidays)
- Location:
Newington, CT
- Driver's license required
- Enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Landscape Architecture, with at least sophomore standing by May 2026
- Copy of current college transcript (if invited to interview)
- Experience or coursework in landscape architecture principles, techniques, and practices
- Experience or coursework related to community outreach and public involvement
- Experience or coursework in green infrastructure and climate resilience
- Experience or coursework in CAD software and drafting techniques
- Experience or coursework in graphic communication and visualization software
- Experience or coursework in landscape architecture site analysis
- Experience or coursework in horticulture and plant identification
- Experience or coursework in UAS drone technology for design and construction
Interns will work under the supervision of licensed Landscape Architects and gain exposure to the Connecticut DOT’s project development and implementation processes. Work will involve both office and field tasks at the Newington headquarters, and may include use of Micro Station, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other applications.
Responsibilities- Prepare the landscape design components for transportation projects, including planting designs, specifications, and construction details for contract plans
- Participate in field work with the Landscape Design Unit staff
- Develop CAD‑generated landscape plans and details
- Produce visual graphics and renderings
- Assist with other project development and management tasks as needed
