Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a Construction Manager who will work alongside management, construction crews and lead engineers for a large electric utility project in the northeast/New England region of the country. The Construction Manager will be part of our Power Delivery Services Division that provides consulting services to both public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities, focusing on overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution, substation and transmission line projects nationwide.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall construction activities on assigned projects, including material management, construction (EPC) and logistics efforts for a large scaled program consisting of multiple EPC/Design Build and Logistics contractors for an investor-owned electric utility in north-eastern United States.
  • Develop and/or review construction plans, outage coordination, commissioning planning and safety planning.
  • Interface directly with the client to report progress, costs, schedule and risks across a portfolio of transmission and distribution projects.
  • Coordinate with multiple Project Managers, schedulers, project controllers and engineers that oversee direct assigned work to general and logistics contractors.
  • Conduct on-site construction management briefings and prepare reports reflecting project status, schedule and uncertainties.
  • Communicate effectively across multiple program and function support areas including client, EPC project teams, functional leadership, subcontractors, and support personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with utility client standards and processes.
  • Oversee contractor evaluations, project reconciliations and close-out activities following completion of projects.
  • Support proposal development efforts that define project scope, schedule and budgets.
  • May be required to work extended hours during certain phases of construction and as project requirements dictate.
  • Provide storm outage support (emergency response planning).
  • Write comprehensive technical project reports.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the US electric utility industry.
  • Demonstrated experience working with field personnel, construction crews, engineering personnel and utility staff.
  • Recent and in-depth expertise in electric power infrastructure projects with strong knowledge in managing large-scale Transmission and Distribution programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Regional and local travel will be required; candidates should possess a valid US driver’s license.
