The Transportation Engineer 2 (Engineering) works within Connecticut's Department of Transportation State Design Unit, developing highway improvement projects that enhance safety and efficiency across the state's transportation system. The role involves creating roadway designs using CAD software, analyzing stormwater drainage systems, incorporating multi-modal transportation facilities, and collaborating with community stakeholders and municipal leaders on capital projects like intersection improvements, roundabouts, and corridor upgrades.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 2 years of professional transportation engineering experience
- Considerable skill with CAD/CADD software for roadway design and three-dimensional modeling
- Knowledge of transportation engineering principles including highway design, drainage, hydraulics, and traffic analysis
- Ability to develop design alternatives, prepare plans and specifications, and analyze complex engineering problems
- Valid driver's license required and must be maintained; PE or EIT licensure preferred
