The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (CTDOT), is now accepting applications for a Transportation Engineer 3 (Engineering) position within the Division of Facilities and Transit, Digital Delivery Technology Unit (formerly AEC (Architectural, Engineering & Construction) Applications Unit), in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, at our Headquarters in Newington, CT.

Transportation Engineer 3's in the Digital Delivery Technology unit support the development of projects and initiatives that enhance the safety, capacity, and efficiency of Connecticut’s transportation system.

You will provide design/engineering support to engineers to develop complex and complete 2D and 3D models for highway and bridge projects during the design and construction phases of these projects. These models and associated data will be used for engineering, construction, and asset management purposes to support the continued implementation of BIM throughout the agency.

You will stay at the forefront of emerging road and bridge technologies, including digital delivery, data management, digital twins, generative design, modeling and analysis, ISO-19650, model as the legal document, and CAD to GIS. You will also collaborate with BIM leaders from around the country through groups such as The Highway Engineering Exchange Program (HEEP) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to help reshape the way CTDOT delivers projects.

You will be part of a team responsible for managing CAD Applications, using Bentley Open Roads Designer and Open Bridge Designer as well as Bentley Infrastructure Cloud. You will help in-house employees, develop training guides, and provide training as necessary.
