The Production Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Newington, CT, responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations on the shop floor. This role plans and schedules production, monitors work in progress, and ensures on-time delivery while maintaining safety, quality, and cost targets. The Production Manager leads and coaches production teams, assigns work, and resolves issues related to staffing, equipment, and materials.
Typical responsibilities include coordinating with engineering, quality, and supply chain to address technical and logistical challenges, tracking key performance indicators, and implementing process improvements. The role also involves maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, supporting audits, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated experience managing production or manufacturing operations, ideally in aerospace or a similarly regulated industry.
- Strong skills in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, with the ability to prioritize work and meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of quality standards and safety practices relevant to manufacturing environments; experience with ISO or AS9100 frameworks is beneficial.
- Leadership and team management capabilities, including coaching, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficiency with production management tools and basic data analysis for tracking throughput, efficiency, and other operational metrics.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort working on-site in a hands-on capacity, regularly interacting with production staff and equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar approaches is a plus.
