Bed Manager ​/ Care Logistics Center

About This Role

The Bed Manager is responsible for the placement of all patient admissions and transfer activity while monitoring capacity in all Hartford Health Care facilities. This role is ideal for those with strong clinical knowledge and excellent communication skills, as it involves liaising with various departments to ensure efficient patient throughput.

• Location: Newington, CT
• Department/Unit: Care Logistics Center
• Schedule: Part Time, Night shift

• Facilitate continuous throughput of patients from all points of entry within the Hartford Health Care system.
• Communicate with physicians and nurses regarding emergency, elective, and direct admissions and transfers.
• Manage bed resources to support inpatient demand.
• Triage clinical needs of all patients for timely bed assignments.
• Identify barriers in bed assignment processes and collaborate on resolutions.
• Document and report on timeliness of patient placement activities.
• Provide education on the electronic patient placement system.
• Evaluate clinical needs related to bed management.
• Collaborate with clinical management on patient needs and emergent transfers.
• Maintain relationships with EVS and Transport staff to enhance patient flow.

Education:

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years diversified clinical experience, preferably in intensive care/emergency department nursing
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience strongly recommended

Licenses &

Certifications:

• Current CT RN Nursing license required
