Tech Writer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer to support a company focused on IT, cybersecurity, and defense operations. This position is on-site at Newington, VA
. The Technical Writer will develop, maintain, and deliver clear, compliant documentation supporting mission‑critical systems and military operations. Join a high‑impact team improving operational readiness through precise, mission‑driven documentation in a dynamic DoD environment.

• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and military personnel to translate complex technical processes into clear documentation
• Develop and maintain user manuals, system guides, SOPs, and technical documentation aligned with DoD standards
• Identify gaps in existing documentation and implement solutions to improve clarity and operational efficiency
• Ensure all deliverables meet compliance requirements, including MIL-STD and Army documentation guidelines
• Manage document lifecycle, version control, and updates in fast‑paced, mission‑driven environments

• 5+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in IT, cybersecurity, or defense environments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and Share Point
• Strong understanding of DoD/Army documentation standards, version control, and content management systems
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance

• Salary Range: $100,000 – $115,000 depending on experience
