As a Senior Camp Counsellor you will play a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and fun environment for campers during the March Break Camps.

Job Requirements- Current certification such as Counsellor in Training Program, Babysitting Course, National Coaching Certification Program or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with toddlers, children and/or youth in a related role.
- Good organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with day camp participants, staff, bus drivers, parent/guardians and the general public.
- Must be able to participate in swimming activities and oversee camp participants in pre‑set swim groups which comply with Town of Newmarket ratios.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required.
- Lifesaving Society’s Safeguard certification required.
- Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification required.
- Behaviour Management Systems, Safe Management or Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification is an asset.
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town (Those 18 Years & Older) or the completion of Declaration of Minors – Working with Vulnerable Individuals Self Declaration Form (Those 17 Years and Younger) is required.
- Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
* The Town of Newmarket's March Break Camps will run from March 16 - 20, 2026.
