Senior Accountant at York Region

Join York Region as a Senior Accountant responsible for essential financial functions. Oversee month-end closing, financial analysis, and support the corporate investment accounting process.

This role reports to the Manager, Corporate Accounting Services and requires proven skills in managing financial data and coordinating services efficiently. You will engage in overseeing the consolidated financial statements and ensure compliance with PSAB/GAAP, playing a vital role in the organization's fiscal health.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate month-end financial closing processes

• Administer corporate debt and investment accounting

• Oversee accounting functions for LTD Group Consortium

• Develop and monitor financial reports for program expenditures

• Guide accounting clerks on transaction recording

Requirements:

• University degree in accounting or related field

• Professional accounting designation (e.g., CMA, CGA)

• Minimum five years of accounting experience

• Proficient with ERP financial software

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and legislative requirements
